Transportation Available If Evacuations Ordered

- In lieu of today’s declaration of a State of Emergency for Harrison County, the Harrison County Emergency Management Agency will enact the Transportation Plan beginning on Sunday.

All persons that require transportation assistance are highly recommended to pre-register with the Coastal Transit Authority (CTA) at 228.896.8080 extension 0 or online at www.CoastTransit.com .
The pre-registration is easy, just answer a few questions such as name, address, phone number, type of transportation required and any special needs that you may have (medical and/or pets).

Once an evacuation notice is issued, all persons that require transportation assistance must call the Coastal Transit Authority (CTA) at 228.896.8080 extension 0 or online at www.CoastTransit.com to confirm the need transportation assistance. Football Fans Keep Eye On Gustav

People attending one football game in Mobile County Friday night had a special reason to be wary of Hurricane Gustav.
And they could also sympathize with fans of the opposing team.
The Alma Bryant Hurricanes played host to the Enterprise Wildcats.
Many Bryant fans live in Bayou La Batre, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The city of Enterprise was struck by a deadly tornado eighteen months ago.
Steve Patronas’ home in Bayou La Batre flooded during Katrina.

Price-Gougers Beware

(MONTGOMERY)— Attorney General Troy King today warned unscrupulous contractors and businesses that he will take action against those who seek to profit illegally at the expense of Alabamians who may suffer damage and others who seek refuge in our state from the tropical storms and hurricanes, in the aftermath of Fay and as Gustav approaches. He cautioned consumers to be wary of those who would victimize them through home repair frauds.
Attorney General King noted that state law protects consumers from price gouging when a disaster is so severe that a state of emergency is declared by the Governor. (Read the full post about ‘Price-Gougers Beware’…)

Gas Price Gouging?

All week, News 5 has been answering your questions and reporting on gas price hikes. Prices have been rising as much as 30-cents since Gustav appears headed for the Gulf of Mexico. Long lines began forming at local gas stations, and some stores ran out of gas.

This afternoon Governor Bob Riley declared a state of emergency in Alabama. Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson and Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack says they now have the authority to investigate reports of price gouging.
